Domaine Laurent Tribut is one of the leading names in Chablis, producing incredibly pure and powerful wines from just 5.2 hectares of vineyards. Look for notes of citrus, sweet orchard fruit together with bready, nutty notes from this 2020 release.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The 2020 Chablis Village offers up aromas of sweet orchard fruit, fresh bread, citrus oil and blanched almonds. Medium-bright and precise, with a fleshy core of fruit and a saline finish, it’s very promising. Laurent Tribut’s three daughters—Solange, Adéline, and Gabriel—are well-ensconced at this important eight-hectare domaine; and their 2020s, which had just been racked to barrel after their fermentation in tank, bear all the hallmarks of a lovely vintage, somewhat reminiscent at this early stage of the Tributs’ 2017s. As I’ve written before, moderate yields, hand-harvesting at full maturity, fermentation in enameled steel and élevage in used wood on the lees are the rudiments of the approach here—an approach familiar to followers of the wines of Laurent Tribut’s brother-in-law, Vincent Dauvissat, in whose cellars Tribut’s wines were once produced. Farming is de facto organic but not certified as such. And none of that seems to have changed with the new generation at the helm.
- Burghound: A restrained nose timidly expresses its aromas of petrol, sea breeze, citrus confit and white orchard fruit. The nicely rich, round and delicious middleweight flavors possess good density while delivering fine length on the clean, dry and sneaky long finish. This is a highly attractive villages and recommended. *Burghound Outstanding!*
Producer Information
When Laurent Tribut married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat, the daughter of René Dauvissat, he joined the family´s winemaking tradition. Long ago, the Dauvissats purchased excellent AOC Chablis vineyards adjoining their own premier crus to give their children the opportunity to become viticulturists. Laurent and Marie-Clotilde have used those vineyards to do just that. Together with their children, Laurent and Marie-Clotilde live only a few miles from Vincent Dauvissat, in a large, restored farmhouse with vineyards behind the property. Today, their daughter Solange has joined the family business as a talented winemaker in her own right.
