Château La Croix du Casse 2019 presents a cherry red color. Very expressive, the aromatic bouquet reveals notes of red fruits reminiscent of currant and plum combined with floral notes. On the palate, the mouth develops gradually, revealing a gourmet and mellow texture with already well-integrated tannins while retaining great freshness.

    Reviews:

    • Decanter: A lovely rich and supple Pomerol that manages to capture plenty of the essence of the appellation but still be an early to medium term drinker with welcoming tannins and plenty of supple but gourmet textured berry fruits – blackberry and black cherry are dominant, with chocolate shavings at every step.
    • James Suckling: Orange-peel, dark-berry and violet character. Medium to full body with layers of fine, velvety tannins and a long, intense finish.

    Producer Information

Château la Croix du Casse is a winery in the French region of Bordeaux. The vineyards lie in the Right Bank appellation of Pomerol and benefit from both the gravel and sandy soils. The winery produces each year a single red wine using a blend of either Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot. Both steel tanks and French oak are used in the vinification process, and the wines are well known their rich, fruity flavor profile. The winery was for a long time owned by Jean-Michel Arcaute, who also owned other high-profile Bordeaux estates like Château Jonqueyres and Château Clinet. Well recognized as one of the region’s innovators, Arcaute tragically died in an accident in 2001. The winery was purchased in 2005 by the Castéja family.
